Let's Play The Natural Way

Happy House Forest

We feel the best way to instill a love of nature in our little ones, is to create an atmosphere that embraces natural play. We incorporate natural elements in every part of our outdoor space. By going back to basics, we allow the children to use their imaginations. Not having ready-made climbers or plastic playhouses, gives them the opportunity to manipulate their environment and create their own play space!

Happy House Sensory Garden

Our sensory garden was designed with children in mind. It is meant to be explored, cared for, and most of all, enjoyed. Children are encouraged to smell, touch, taste, hear, and see the world around them. We have also found that our little ones learn what it means to be gentle to nature and each other. By allowing them to pick the flowers, sit on the plants, and dig up the earth, they learn for themselves that what they do affects things around them. Pretty soon, they discover that picking up a bug or worm and observing it is much more fun than stepping on it.

Bringing Nature Indoors

Although we make it a priority to spend as much time outside as possible, the weather does not always cooperate.  We use many natural elements in our indoor play spaces. We love to bring pine cones, pumpkins, shells, and even bird's nests indoors for the children to enjoy. On days the weather is not appropriate for outside play we find a way to bring it inside, often collecting rain water for our plants and snow to explore!

                   Eco Friendly Natural Play

Each day of the week is dedicated to a different activity such as Art, Science, Baking, and even yoga! With every part of our program, we strive to incorporate nature into the learning environment by using loose parts taken directly from nature as well as reuse items such as shipping boxes and paper rolls. Children love to incorporate these items into their daily adventures and we enjoy watching them learn and grow in a happy healthy environment!
